What is your role within the Academic Collaborative Centre related to people with PIMD?
I am conducting research on motor activation in people with PIMD. Awareness of this topic has been growing in recent years and practitioners have developed various initiatives designed to stimulate motor activation. We started by studying these existing initiatives and assessing their effectiveness. A programme was then developed for use in the field, to help practitioners use motor activation in a structural and meaningful way. The effectiveness of this programme is currently being examined.
What do you hope to achieve?
My goal is to contribute to the support given to people with PIMD in the area of motor activation, thereby helping to improve their quality of life.
