Ankelien Schippers

Knowledge broker implementation
University of Groningen

What do you do within the Academic Collaborative Center for People with Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities (PIMD)?
I am a knowledge broker for implementation. I ensure that scientific knowledge can be applied in practice and in the daily lives of people with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (EMB) and their families. I do this mainly by creating connections between family members, professionals, researchers, and policymakers.

What do you want to achieve?
I strongly believe that scientific research can provide answers to many questions and problems that people (with or without disabilities) face in daily life. That’s why I find it important that research results are accessible and applicable to everyone. As a knowledge broker, I aim to inspire people involved in the care for individuals with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities to engage with scientific research and help them implement it. Ultimately, through my work, I want to contribute to the further development of implementation strategies in healthcare.
